Renaissance Dialogues with the Classical Past

From the popularity of Ovid's tales as a subject of art and poetry, to the construction of Rome in the plays of Shakespeare, ideas about ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt were central to Renaissance culture. This talk will explore how the Renaissance engaged with and imagined the classical past in a range of literary, visual and dramatic forms.
